Global Game Jam
The global game jam is an event that takes place annually on the last Friday of January and lasts for 48 hours ending on Sunday. People join the game jam to create a game in 48 hours, the global game jam takes place in 113 countries around the world at the same time (different time zones) and it started in 2009 with 23 countries joining. A theme is announced at the beginning of the jam (Friday) and the jammers have to improvise and make a game around that theme. The global game jam in Egypt started in the year 2013 and is now the largest game jam site in the world so far with two Guiness world records (2016, 2018) of Most participants in a game jam (single location). The theme is revealed at 5 PM and before that during the first day we welcome everyone to join workshops and talks by Egyptians who work in game development.
